I have worked as a solo private practice community OT for 20 years in regional NSW and have experience across many different areas of OT practice including disability, aged care, mental health, paediatrics, driver assessment and vehicle modifications. I am an accredited OT driver assessor in NSW with Transport for NSW, and am also an accredited Mental Health OT.
Before becoming an OT I completed a degree in psychology, and worked in the mental health field.
Clinically, I use a client centred approach with a focus on empowering clients via education to make choices, set goals, and achieve the functional goals they have identified as valuable and meaningful in their own lives. The practice currently provides clinic based OT driver assessment services and NDIS OT assessment services in Coffs Harbour.
Occupational Therapy Driving Assessment
I work with Julie Crocker, Specialist Driving Instructor to complete OT Driving Assessments for medical fitness to drive evaluation, and assessment regarding the need for modified driving controls for clients with physical disabilities.
Julie has a modified vehicle set up with hand controls for braking and acceleration, steering aids (standard spinner knob and electronic spinner), a satellite hand accelerator, and a left foot accelerator.
